Olathe is a unique city because of its sculpture art. It embraces the use of sculptures in public areas throughout the downtown. There are currently 22 permanent sculptures in Olathe. The city believes they create identity, activate public spaces, and connect people to community.
The Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm is the only working stagecoach stop on the old Santa Fe Trail. Purchased in 1857 by the Mahaffie family, the farm became one of the important stagecoach stops on the trail. Today it operates as a museum and historic site. Visitors can experience life on the frontier, take stagecoach rides, and see 1860’s farming practices.
